Every Life Counts Initiative was founded in loving memory of Ifeanyichukwu Charles Ayika, a bright and promising young boy whose life was tragically cut short in 2008 following a preventable incident. He was just 13 years. His death left a lasting impact on our family and created a deep awareness of how fragile life can be when timely care and intervention are lacking. He was intelligent, full of potential, and had dreams of becoming a medical doctor. Losing him was not only a personal tragedy but also a turning point that reshaped our understanding of health, urgency, and the value of early intervention.Years later, as a Registered Nurse and Midwife working across clinical and community settings, I began to repeatedly encounter similar stories children, mothers, and families affected not only by illness, but by delayed care, lack of health knowledge, and preventable circumstances. These experiences revealed a painful truth: many lives can be saved with the right information, timely action, and access to basic health education.Every Life Counts Initiative was therefore born from both personal loss and professional experience. It stands as a commitment to honor his memory by preventing avoidable suffering and ensuring that more families are equipped with the knowledge needed to protect and preserve life.Today, this work continues with a clear conviction: that every life matters, and every life deserves a fighting chance.
