๐ŸŒฟ FROM THE BEDSIDE

Episode 2: What If They Had Known Earlier?

One question has echoed in my heart throughout my years as a nurse:

“What if they had known earlier?”

Sometimes, I look beyond the diagnosis and ask myself a different question, not just what happened? but what could have been prevented?

I’ve met patients whose illnesses had progressed far beyond what anyone would hope for.

Not always because treatment didn’t exist.

Sometimes because the warning signs were not recognized.

Sometimes because myths replaced facts.

Sometimes because no one had taken the time to teach them.

Those moments have changed the way I see healthcare.

I’ve come to believe that one of the most powerful medicines doesn’t come in a bottle or a syringe.

It comes in the form of knowledge.

The right information…

Shared at the right time…

In a way people truly understand…

Can change the course of a life.

Health education is more than teaching.

It is prevention.

It is empowerment.

It is hope.

As nurses and healthcare professionals, we care for people when they become ill.

But imagine how many lives could be transformed if we reached them before illness did.

That is a future worth building.

One conversation.

One lesson.

One child.

One family at a time.

This is “From the Bedside,” where I share the experiences that continue to shape my mission of making health education understandable, accessible, and life saving for every child.
